Komodo 2 Day Private Charter: 2D1N Boat Rates 2026

Komodo 2 Day Private Charter (2D1N): Boat Fit, Route & All-In Rates for 2026

**A Komodo 2 day private charter is a 2D1N whole-boat trip from Labuan Bajo where your group of 4-20 has the vessel to itself, sleeps one night aboard, and covers a Komodo National Park route across two days. Per-boat rates start around IDR 110 million for the group; park fees are added on top and change periodically.**

At Varana Charters, operated by Komodo Luxury (a Labuan Bajo operator founded in 2015), our job is simple: match your group and route to the right boat class for a 2D1N. We are not a rate-card site. We tell you which boat actually fits before we quote it.

What does a 2 day private Komodo charter (2D1N) actually cover?

A 2D1N means one night aboard. You depart Labuan Bajo, Flores, on the morning of day one and return on day two, so you get roughly a day and a half on the water plus an overnight anchorage.

That timing is enough to reach the core of the park without rushing. A typical 2D1N route touches:

  • Padar Island for the ridge-line viewpoint (sunrise if your boat overnights nearby)
  • Komodo Island or Rinca Island for a ranger-guided dragon trek
  • Pink Beach for the red-tinted sand and easy snorkeling
  • Manta Point for manta rays, conditions permitting
  • Kelor Island or Siaba Besar on the way back for a final swim

The fuller route islands most people picture, Taka Makassar sandbank, Kanawa Island, and the Kalong Island sunset bat flight, really open up on a 3D2N. On a 2D1N you pick the highlights; you do not get all of them. That is the honest trade-off, and it is exactly why the boat class you choose matters so much on a two-day trip.

Which boat class fits a 2D1N for my group?

The 2D1N format works across several boat classes. Since you overnight aboard, you need cabins, which rules out the open-deck day boat for the sleeping night. Here is how the classes line up for a two-day private charter.

Boat class Best group size 2D1N fit What to expect
Standard / cabin wooden boat 4-12 Strong Simple private cabins, shared bathrooms typical, good value overnight
Cabin phinisi 6-20 Strongest Traditional wooden liveaboard, en-suite options, the classic 2D1N choice
Luxury yacht 4-16 Premium AC en-suite cabins, higher crew-to-guest service, top comfort
Speedboat 4-15 Day-focus Fast between islands but built for day trips, not the overnight leg
Open-deck day boat 4-20 Not for overnight No cabins; single-day comfort only

For most families and friend groups of 4-20 doing a 2D1N, the cabin phinisi is the default answer: it sleeps the group, handles the route comfortably, and suits the price point. If your priority is speed and reaching more islands in the daytime hours, a speedboat paired with a night at anchor is possible, but a phinisi is the calmer overnight. We will tell you which of these fits your exact group before quoting.

How much does a 2D1N private Komodo charter cost in 2026?

Pricing is per boat, per group, not per person. That is the whole point of a private charter: you book the vessel, then split it however your group likes.

Published operator figures give a real reference range. As of 2026 and subject to change:

Reference (per group, 2D1N) Published rate Source
Whole-boat charter, up to 21 pax / 9 rooms From IDR 110,000,000 Salam Ransel
Standard boat, private phinisi range Overall estimated USD 2,049-8,457 (varies by boat, duration, excursion) Komodo Touristic

Komodo Touristic notes its estimated range spans boat type, duration, and excursion, and that the minimum private charter duration is 2D1N. So a 2D1N sits at the entry end of that range, with luxury yachts climbing toward the top. Salam Ransel’s IDR 110 million is a concrete “whole-boat, per-group” anchor for a larger vessel.

What the boat rate usually includes (per Komodo Touristic): the boat, crew, meals, mineral water, tea, a tour guide, snorkeling gear, leisure activities, and hotel transfers.

What it does not include (also per Komodo Touristic): Komodo National Park entrance fees, dive trips, insurance, flight tickets, and hotel. These are add-ons on top of the boat rate.

About “all-in per-boat” pricing and park fees

We quote your 2D1N as an all-in per-itinerary package: boat plus Komodo National Park fees bundled for your chosen route. That is different from a bare boat rate. Park entrance, ranger, and conservation fees are charged by park authorities, may differ for foreign versus Indonesian visitors, can carry weekend or holiday surcharges, and change periodically, so we confirm the current amounts with you before locking the total rather than quoting a stale number. Drone use and diving can carry separate permits and fees. Always treat these as extra and verify current official rates before you travel.

How does booking a 2D1N charter work?

Booking is handled directly by the Komodo Luxury reservations team. The flow is short:

  1. Message the concierge with your dates, group size, and whether you lean phinisi, yacht, or speedboat. WhatsApp is fastest.
  2. Get matched to a boat — we recommend the class and specific vessels that fit your group and 2D1N route, and confirm current park fees for your dates.
  3. Receive your all-in 2D1N quote — one per-group figure covering boat plus bundled park fees, with inclusions and exclusions spelled out.
  4. Confirm with a deposit — a deposit secures the boat and dates; bank transfer is common. Confirm the exact deposit and payment terms with the reservations team.
  5. Finalize the itinerary and receive your departure details for Labuan Bajo.

Komodo Touristic recommends booking at least one month ahead. Peak windows, especially August and the New Year period, sell the best boats out earlier, so lock a 2D1N as soon as your dates are firm.

When is a 2D1N the right call versus a 3D2N?

Choose a 2D1N if you have limited days, want the headline islands (Padar, a dragon trek, Pink Beach, Manta Point) without a longer commitment, or are testing the waters before a bigger trip. Step up to a 3D2N if you want the fuller route with Taka Makassar, Kanawa, and the Kalong sunset, which a two-day window simply cannot fit. For groups short on time but wanting speed, a speedboat 2D1N reaches more in daylight; for a relaxed overnight, a phinisi wins.
